ILLUMINUS was founded by a team with deep roots in creative technology and large scale media production, including leadership connected to the founding of Materials & Methods. This early work established a long standing practice grounded in experimentation, systems thinking, and the thoughtful use of technology to shape experiences.
Building on this foundation, the team expanded into immersive public art and live events, launching the first ILLUMINUS festival in 2014. These large scale light and sound experiences transformed public spaces across Greater Boston and helped define ILLUMINUS as a leader in immersive, site responsive work. Over time, this practice evolved into a broader body of work spanning arts and culture, civic spaces, and professional event production.
The establishment of the Illuminus Foundation further deepened this commitment to public facing, artist driven projects, while reinforcing the organization’s role as a trusted producer of complex, immersive experiences.
Building on this momentum, the team went on to establish the ILLUMINUS Foundation to further support public art, artist driven work, and community centered creative programming. Over time, our practice expanded to include corporate events, conferences, and brand activations, applying the same immersive expertise developed through our cultural work.
